Are your friends holding you back or lifting you up?

If you think back to your school days everyone was pretty much at the same point in life and had a similar state of mind – admitingly some were a bit warped, but you get what I mean.

As we develop professionally more into adults we are influenced by those around us as well as what we’ve read, what we’ve studied, where we’ve been and who we hang out with.  I think its great to have friends and colleagues that stretch you professionally and also to avoid those who take great pleasure in trying to pull you down to their level.

On the who we hang out with, since having some good success online I’ve become a faculty member on a group of elite Internet Marketers in Australia – It’s called Our Internet Secrets.  One of the perks of working with this extraordinary bunch of people is that we get together three times a year to workshop our businesses, share problems and strategies and generally make magic happen.  This super-bunch are each experts in their fields-  Daryl and Andrew Grant, Paul and Mary Blackburn, Yaro Starak, Matt and Amanda Clarkson, Nikhil Parekh, Darren Stephens, Janet Beckers, Bret Thomson… just to name a few.

Monday just gone we got together in a mastermind group on the gold coast and workshopped each others businesses and identified JV opportunities that existed together.  These opportunities are highly valuable and give you great motivation to lift up a gear.

Even if you are not at the level where you can join a mastermind like this there may be other marketers or business people in your area who you can meet together with regularly and help build each other up.

So, ask yourself.  Are your friends holding you back or lifting you up?
